Intelligent eco-management where ecology and economy win both
Manufacturing best quality products can be done both, ecologically sound and profitable. j-fiber has been a pioneer in the company-wide implementation of green & safe manufacturing processes and supply chain control. It is even possible to conserve raw materials in production based on complex chemical processes and operate in an environmentally compatible manner by means of emission control systems and recycling processes. We see this as our responsibility – and it saves costs.
EMAS environmental audit

j-fiber has been the first European fiber company to pass the strict eco-audit EMAS in June 1998 where independent environmental auditors have certified that j-fiber’s manufacturing facilities in Jena operate an efficient and effective environmental management system which is based on the EU's Eco-Management and Audit Scheme (EMAS) directive EMAS I (EWG 1836/93). The registration of the facility was recorded in November 1999. The fiber plant successfully passed the regular auditing procedure according to EMAS II (EWG 761/2001) in September 2008. In Septermber 2010 we successfully passed EMAS III (EWG 1221/2009). The registration is valid through September 30th, 2014
Human and environmental safety
We make sure that we and our supplier fulfill strict regulations for human safety and environmental protection. Our facilities work in accordance with RoHS and REACH regulations.
RoHS -Restriction of the use of certain hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment
January 27, 2003 the European Parliament and Council issued the Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) directive 2002/95/EC. This directive restricts certain hazardous substances in electrical und electronic products. The following substances are identified by RoHS in addition to lead to be banned from electrical und electronic products sold in Europe: Lead/Pb, Mercury/Hg, Cadmium/Cd, Hexavalent Chromium/Cr(VI), Polybrominated biphenyls/PBB, Polybrominated diphenyl ethers/PBDE and Deca-BDE. j-fiber GmbH herewith declares that none of our optical fiber products contain any of the above listed substances and thus all j-fiber products conform with the RoHS directive.
REACH -Registration, Evaluation, and Authorisation of Chemicals

We would like to inform you that the products of j-fiber GmbH do not come under the REACH registration and admission procedure because they have no harmful properties. However, our products contain substances from our suppliers which are compulsory to registration.
